Is one of your New Year’s resolutions to lose weight? The best way to conquer this goal is to slowly change your lifestyle. What most people do is immediately go on a diet. Let’s just say the diet works and you reach your ideal weight. What do you do then? Most will fall back to old habits and gain all the weight back. That is why they don’t work in the long run. Diets are just a short term solution. If your resolution is to lose weight, try changing it to lose weight and keep it off.
Tips, statistics, dos and don’ts on nutrition and fitness
People who keep a food journal tend to lose weight – Why? Because you become aware of what you are putting into your body. When asked how many calories a day do you consume? The answer is usually 500-800 less than the actual amount. I have many clients who lose their first couple of pounds just by starting a food journal. This doesn’t mean you have to do it forever. Once you become aware of your tendencies and make the appropriate changes, the journal has done the trick.
With the holidays coming and more things taking you away from your normal schedule, now is the time to gear up your workouts and maintain your healthy lifestyle. Here is a list of things you can do to stay fit through the holidays.
This is definitely not a diagnosis; however, lower back pain can be caused by tight muscle in the legs, hips or abdominals. I have many new clients that come to me with one of their goals being to eliminate lower back pain. If this pain is not caused by soft tissue, nerve or spinal damage (which is out of my range to treat), the first thing I look for is tightness. Many times this is the problem. After a specific and persistent stretching routine, their back pain is slowly eliminated.
The importance of warming up is undeniable. It’s a wonder why so few of us actually warm up before any type of exercise; Maybe it’s not knowing what to do or what to do it for. I will answer both of these maybes.
